Why I’m taking Metsu into XR

September 2026

Personal AI context is becoming a feature. I tried to make it a product.

The timing was both perfect and imperfect. I started building Metsu because I wanted a system that understood my context, remembered what mattered, and carried that understanding across the tools I was using. I wanted my own JARVIS.

Then I built Brain Local.

With Astra in Codex, a local project folder, context, instructions, and orchestration, I could basically get what I wanted Metsu to do for myself. I could build it into the way I already work. And it works awesome.

That made me ask: why am I building a separate product for something I can already do in my own setup? Especially when I think the models and platforms are moving in that direction anyway.

When I originally thought of Metsu as JARVIS, I wanted it in glasses. Something I could talk to through voice, that could speak back, read my environment, and understand what was happening around me. The initial context system was supposed to come first. Then I would build toward glasses.

Eventually I was like, why don’t I just build toward the glasses now?

I haven’t really played with XR in years. The last time was around college, in 2021 or 2022. Looking at the technology now, I want to get back into it. I think it’s going to keep getting better, cheaper, and more mainstream.

I think people are going to use glasses and headsets instead of phones for some things, or as complements to their phones. Even if it’s just at home. And gaming is one of the applications I’m most excited about. I think it’s going to be completely transformed.

The VR superpowers are the more immediately fun part for me. I want to experience powers in first person. Perform them, see them, and feel like I’m actually using them. Something so immersive and fun that I immediately want to do it again.

Then there’s the real-world side: enhanced eyes.

Can I give myself thermal vision? Zoom? Ways to see things from different perspectives? Even something like the idea of X-ray vision: what could I perceive that my normal eyes can’t?

The information has to be genuine. I want the technology to help me see more, and then use that additional information to change how I move and react.

One application I keep thinking about is fighting. Could software read someone’s movement early enough to help me react? If somebody’s about to punch, could I notice what’s happening soon enough to dodge it? That’s the part of the Sharingan idea that interests me: seeing more and reacting quicker.

Those are things I want to explore. I don’t have a headset doing that today, or a demonstrated prediction time to promise.

I want to give people power. I want to give myself power. That’s what makes this exciting to me.

So Metsu is moving toward XR: immersive powers in VR, and enhanced perception through AR and mixed reality. VR is where I want to start. The glasses are still part of the longer-term vision.

Right now I’m at the planning stage for the XR build. I want to get a Meta Quest 3 and an Apple Vision Pro and start working with the hardware. Even a small amount of early funding, somewhere in the $1,000–$5,000 range, could help me get started.

I also want to get into the XR community. If you’re building in this space and want to collaborate, contact me. Follow along if you want to see what I actually build. I want the work to show that I’m serious about this.
